$76,000 Opioid Abatement Grant to support pregnant women and mothers in residential addiction treatment

DeFuniak Springs, Fla. (Sept. 15, 2025) 鈥 海角社区 has been awarded $76,000 in opioid abatement funding from Walton County鈥檚 Opioid and Substance Use Disorder Grants Committee. The grant will provide essential support to 海角社区鈥檚 JoAnn Birge Women and Children鈥檚 Center鈥攑articularly for the infants and young children who stay with their mothers during residential addiction treatment at the DeFuniak Springs facility.

Tia Guidry, director for 海角社区 of Walton County

The Women and Children鈥檚 Center provides a safe, supportive environment for mothers recovering from substance use disorders to receive residential treatment while remaining with their young children. This family-centered approach strengthens bonds, promotes stability and helps break the cycle of addiction.

鈥淭his funding will make a significant difference for our families,鈥 said Tia Guidry, director for 海角社区 of Walton County. 鈥淥ur Level 2 residential license covers essential treatment services for women, but many everyday necessities鈥攍ike diapers, clothing and food鈥攁re not reimbursed. Support from grants like this allows us to meet critical needs, ensuring that mothers can focus on recovery, so families have the support and resources they need to succeed together.鈥

海角社区 remains committed to helping individuals and families affected by opioid and substance use disorders find hope, healing and long-term recovery.
