David Josephs, Psy.D., Clinical Director

David Josephs, Psy.D., is a licensed psychologist with more than 30 years of experience. He serves as the clinical director of º£½ÇÉçÇø.

º£½ÇÉçÇø provides mental health and substance misuse treatment for more than 29,000 adults and children – from Escambia to Walton County – each year. Dr. Josephs is responsible for the direction and oversight of all clinical staff and programs.

His direct services include psychological evaluations, second opinions for Baker Act commitments, and continuing education presentations for clinical staff

Dr. Josephs joined º£½ÇÉçÇø in 1995 as director of the Crisis Stabilization Unit. Today, he continues to support community integration, working with the judicial systems, law enforcement, and community health care systems. He is a previous president of the board of directors for Opening Doors of Northwest Florida – the lead agency in the homeless services continuum of care.

As a lead presenter and instructor of Lakeview’s Crisis Intervention Training course, Dr. Josephs has helped train more than 1,000 local law enforcement officers in how to assist individuals with a mental illness. This program provides the necessary foundation to improve the safety of patrol officers, detention deputies, people with mental illnesses, family members and citizens within the community.

Dr. Josephs holds a Doctor of Psychology from the Florida Institute of Technology and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Nebraska. He has worked with multi-disciplinary teams in alcohol and drug abuse treatment, adult and child/adolescent mental health, screening and intervention services, and neuropsychology. He is a member of the American Psychological Association.

Dr. Josephs grew up in Jamaica and currently resides in Gulf Breeze, Florida, with his wife.
